We all  have memories of him and those who shared their memories during the service helped us commemorate him. It was interesting to see that as each person came forward with a story, those who heard nodded in agreement.

Ken did not want an elaborate service, and he left instructions which said just that, which set the tone for those who’s task it was to prepare his service. He also chose the hymns he wanted, which musically gave us a glimpse of what was meaningful to him spiritually. The care and kindness which Ken showed in his life, were reflected in the service.

One of the hymns which Ken chose was, Dear Lord And Father of Mankind, one of the verses is as follows:

Drop Thy still dews of quietness,
Till all our strivings cease;
Take from our souls the strain and stress,
And let our ordered lives confess
The beauty of Thy peace.

By Reverend Peter Howe

“Honoring Ken?” – On  Saturday January 17, the community  of  Acworth,  came  together at  the Town  Hall  for  a memorial service to celebrate the life of Ken Bogle.

Each of  us  can take a cue  from  what  Ken  did, take time  to  answer the questions:  what  kind of a funeral/memorial service do we want, what burial arrangements do we have, and are we an organ donor (or not)? Please take time to talk over these questions and the many others which flow from them, and consider putting your instruction in writing. Then let your family know the details or where they can be found at the time of your death. The answers to the questions may change over time so it is good to revisit these decisions.

Following a persons death, the presence of instructions from the person who has died goes a long way to help the relatives and friends who are living honor the memory of the person who has died.

If we take time to make our wishes known, we can make life easier for those who we leave behind, and we will honor Ken’s memory by our actions.

“ It’s Tea Time” – Shortly after the cap was taken off the steeple in January 2006, the Female Charitable Society organized a Valentine’s Tea for the benefit of the Restoration Project.

This year, the fourth annual tea will be held Sunday February 15 at the Acworth Meeting house from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Beverages include, tea, coffee and hot chocolate. There will be a choice of nine different desserts, plus other goodies.

In the past this Tea Party has been a “must attend” event. Join your friends and neighbors, for a tasty time and to support a great cause.
