TRANSFER STATION

Beginning January 1, 2012, the Transfer Station will be closed on Sundays and new Saturday hours will be 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM.

This dance is holistic - simultaneously uniting  the  body,  mind, and spirit. Moving to the sound of the music is an individual journey with focused attention on self. Some contact and improvisational experiences will be guided but really it is about the movement and you. We will dance from a selected playlist with free movement and some directives from Nia Dance Teacher, Michele Turner, to get us in the groove and help us stay there for the hour. Dance is about total body conditioning providing you with flexibility, strength, agility, balance, and cardiovascular benefits.

JOYFUL MOVEMENT

Thursdays beginning January 26, 2012 at the Acworth Town Hall, 5:30PM – 6:30PM

Come dance and have fun with us!

It is suggested to bring a yoga mat and go barefoot but shoe wear is accepted, comfort is the priority.
Suggested donation $2 - $5 per class. Everyone is welcome.

Any questions call Michele Turner at 835-6654

In the 1920's Mabel Ellsworth Todd developed a movement system – Ideo (idea) Kinesis (movement) -- to improve posture and physical well-being. The method utilized imagery and was based on evolutionary science and functional anatomy. With tactile aid (touch), the images are sensed more deeply and frequently there is a broadening of both physical and mental awareness.

Constructive Rest

Mabel Todd often worked in the supine position that she called 'hook lying' to facilitate the imagery process. Lulu Sweigard, a student and later a colleague of Mabel Todd called it the constructive rest position (CR). My teacher, Andre Bernard introduced a wonderful partnering system which helped the translation of imagery into the body whereby inspiring change.
