2010 FUNDRAISER REPORT ~ By Stella Herpel

Saturday July 10 saw a marvelous day of community and art in Acworth as the Trust held its second annual fundraising event—an Exhibition and Sale at Town Hall and a Tour of local studios and shops.

The numbers:
29 participants; over 135 items on exhibit; 11 shops and studios open. Art sales of over $6000 at Town Hall and over $1000 at the studios. Over $2700 raised for the Trust.

At least 170 people took in the exhibit and purchased the 50 boxed lunches at the Store. Some joined the Trust, boosting its membership to 51.

The vibe:
The show got rave reviews by the exhibitors and attendees alike. The quality of the work from the hands of our local artists and artisans inspired awe and admiration, as did the handsome display itself. Many people comment how much they enjoyed discovering the "Hidden Talents" of their friends and neighbors.

Reaching out to the community, the Trust invited those attending the Meetinghouse Pancake Breakfast to visit the exhibit as our guests. Over 50 people accepted that invitation, most spending a good bit of time enjoying the display and many leaving donations, which were much appreciated.

In addition to the participants, many folks volunteered their time and talents to bring the show together and act as hosts. Without them it could not have happened, let alone been the success it was. Deepest thanks to you all.

The vision:
The purpose of these events is to raise money to give away to Acworth causes. The Trust hopes to establish a track record of putting on a show worth attending for causes worth supporting. Monies raised now will directly fund next spring’s round of grants to local people and organizations.

The Trust welcomes new members and donations of any amount. More information may be had from Kristian Fenderson at hyddude@hughes.net or Stella Herpel at 835-2925 or frogwood@localnet.com

The mission of the Trust is to support charitable projects that benefit the town of Acworth and its citizens.
