HOUSING & CONSERVATION PROJECT
ACWORTH EMBARKS UPON A STATE FUNDED
HOUSING AND CONSERVATION PLANNING PROJECT
By Stella Herpel
This summer, Acworth was notified that it was one of six towns in the state to win a grant from the Office of Energy and Planning for professional assistance in planning for housing and conservation. The $17,000 grant will be used to employ Ken McWilliams, professional planner, and Mark Goodwin, mapping consultant, to build upon their considerable experience in Acworth to gather and analyze data on our population, housing, natural resources and historic structures. This information will equip the town to consider thoughtfully its vision for future development. Subsequently the town may apply for additional grants to develop that vision and incorporate it into the town’s master plan and its regulations and ordinances.
An introductory Public Hearing on the project will be held
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2008
7:00 PM
TOWN HALL
Ken McWilliams and the project steering committee will be on hand to describe the project, answer questions, and take input from the public as to how the project can be enhanced. The committee will be eager to discuss opportunities for townsfolk to become involved. Your time will be valued at $18/hour toward our matching funds!
Please join us as we inaugurate this exciting program for our town.
