HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT NEWS

It is expected that the beams will be set in place on Grout Hill Bridge toward the end of the first full week in October.

Carroll Concrete has agreed to pay for the concrete deck materials, crane, concrete apron, plus all the labor, including transportation of all materials, welding and assembly.

The Town will pay for the following materials: steel beams, diaphragms, rail stand-offs and vertical support members.

Casting of the deck panels is scheduled to begin around October 1. One deck panel can be cast per day and there will be a total of 8 panels. Each deck panel needs to cure at least a week before it can be handled. The best estimate for placement of the deck panels is the third or fourth week of October.

It is expected that Grout Hill Bridge will be repaired by sometime in November.

The town of Acworth recently purchased steel beams from the NH Department of Transportation at a reduced cost for Grout Hill Bridge repair. The beams are currently on the grounds of Carroll Concrete and the town has contracted with a vendor to sandblast and paint the steel beams.
