FREE TRAINING WORKSHOPS FOR BUILDING PROFESSIONALS The NH Office of Energy and Planning is hosting free workshops on energy efficient construction for residential and commercial projects. The workshops are designed to assist builders, contractors, engineers, architects and code enforcement officials meet the IECC 2009 Energy Code which goes into effect on April 1, 2010. The residential workshop, Bringing the Future of Home Construction to NH Today, will provide an overview of the new code, review building components, requirements for compliance and the basic elements of building. Building practices and materials for high performance homes exceeding the code, such as the EPA Energy Star Homes Program, will be discussed. The program covers footings and foundations, framing, sills/band joists, floors, above grade walls and ceilings, insulation, vapor management, heating and cooling and ventilation. Utility Programs designed to help reduce the cost of code compliance are available. Door prizes, hands-on demonstrations and lunch provided at all workshops. Dates:
